Former Huntsville Army officer charged with sex crimes in Colorado and Alabama now a suspect in Texas
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — An Army officer facing child sexual assault charges in Colorado and Alabama 1 is also a suspect in Texas. Sgt. Steve Shelley of the Texarkana, Texas, police said Wednesday that DNA from 1st Lt. Aaron Gregory Lucas matched DNA in a 2009 kidnapping and indecency case there. Shelley says his department will seek an arrest warrant for Lucas. The 31-year-old Lucas is an artillery officer assigned to Fort Carson, just outside Colorado Springs. He is being held without bail on suspicion of sexual assault, kidnapping, enticement and indecent exposure in communities surrounding Fort Carson. He also faces charges of child enticement and sexual abuse of a child younger than 12 in Madison, Ala. 2 In the Texas case, a 7-year-old girl was abducted from a playground and returned about 30 minutes later. Army Sgt. Given 35 Years in Sex Assault Case

(AP) – A Fort Carson Army sergeant has been sentenced to 35 years in a military prison after being found guilty of sexual assault charges. The Gazette reports a military panel Friday found Alberto Silva-Sadder guilty of 21 charges. They include two counts of aggravated sexual assault, three counts of forcible sodomy, two counts of possession of child pornography and a kidnapping charge. Silva-Sadder was assigned to the post’s 10th Combat Support Hospital. Four women came forward with allegations of sexual misconduct dating back to 2009. Silva-Sadder had pleaded not guilty and defense attorneys had claimed the assaults were acts of consensual sex.

Utica man charged with criminal sex act, desertion from U.S. Army

According to Chief Obernesser of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, Andrew J. Vanmarter, 24, of Utica has been charged with second-degree criminal sex act after an investigation into a sexual assault that authorities said occurred in 2007. Vanmarter was arraigned in Utica City Court and remanded to the Oneida County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 bail. Obernesser said an arrest warrant by the US Department of Army charging Vanmarter with desertion has also been lodged. The case has been turned over to the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office for Grand Jury consideration and the victim has been offered counseling services through the Child Advocacy Center.
